Description

Joel Clough was arrested, convicted, and executed for the murder of Mrs. Mary W. Hamilton, a woman who he had hoped to marry. This document includes Clough's own account of the crime as well as of his religious conversion prior to his execution. The document also includes statements by the trial judge, Chief Justice Hornblower, and an account of Clough's escape from prison and recapture written by the Sheriff of Burlington County.
