Educational television has existed for over 70 years, and many parents rely on screens and devices to entertain their children, but why not educate and promote school readiness at the same time? With the recent challenges of the 2020 pandemic and the lack of space in preschool programs across the country, parents have been relying on new modalities to educate their children and prepare them for school. This study was conducted to assess the educational content and methods by which this content is exposed to young learners. We know that there is educational value to children's television, but is it enough to prepare a young learner for kindergarten? Through a content analysis of five educational television programs, we develop a recommendation for content creators to enhance the programs to target skills that are critical to school readiness.
