Abstract
This thesis provides a content analysis of a set of children’s books that received recognition from the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award (JACBA) which places a focus on peace and social justice. It will examine whether the honors and winners of this award from 2016-2023 meet the set criteria for this award. Peace and social justice are topics often overlooked in children’s literature. This places the JACBA in a unique position to highlight quality books that focus on these topics. The study addresses these topics as well as other trends found within the set. It is vital that children are presented with quality literature that can expand their views of themselves and the world.
