With the unique nature of dementia, a cure or treatment for the disease is many years away. Instead of treating dementia, research has focused on identifying risk factors along with strategies to prevent the disease. Targeting these risk factors has become a part of dementia prevention programs, which are currently being applied world-wide. However, these programs focus on middle-age to older-age participants. To provide greater chances of prevention, this paper proposes a program that would be administered to young adults. While educating the benefits of a healthier lifestyle, the participants not only will be experiencing the immediate effects of taking care of their brain and body, but also delaying the onset of dementia. To increase interest in the program among young adults, the benefits of dementia prevention will not specifically be advertised, but rather included at the end of the program to potentially jumpstart the conversation of dementia prevention. If students leave the workshop with the knowledge of healthy lifestyle benefits along an understanding of the prevention of dementia, then this workshop could be viewed as a success.
